Tasting Notes
Vinous 89
Good deep red. Black raspberry, sassafras, road tar and spicy oak on the nose. Sweet berry fruit shows an almost liqueur-like creaminess, but a peppery element and good underlying minerality lend grip to the finish, which features a fine dusting of tannins and nice cedary persistence. An excellent second wine.
Robert Parker 86
Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2006 horizontal, the 2006 Bahans-Haut-Brion has a fragrant earthy, woodland, almost autumnal bouquet that is well defined and fully mature. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, lightweight perhaps but with a keen thread of acidity, attenuated slightly towards the finish. Drink sooner rather than later would be my advice. Tasted April 2016.
Anticipated maturity: 2016-2023
